6 months ago, I bought the Walt Disney Classics Animated Collection on Blu-Ray featuring 24 of Disney’s most iconic animated films spread out across 8 discs. Like the vast majority of red-blooded Americans, I grew up watching Disney movies. In fact, while my mother was pregnant with my older brother and me in the early 1990s, she made it a point to track down every animated Disney movie she could on VHS. The net effect was that, for a time, we had a massive collection of Disney VHS tapes, and my brother and I would watch almost every movie from Disney’s animated canon up to Moana. Before Disney became known for Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and soulless live-action remakes, there was a time when they were best known for their animated movies which have brought Disney’s signature brand of magic and warmth to millions.
